Since I’ve really had no one else vote, here are the winners of the Best of 2016.
Best Male Artist : Eric Church…Church literally released two of the best mainstream singles this year in “Record Year” and “Kill a Word”. His album was released November last year, but it’s impact was mostly felt this year. This is well deserved for Church because nobody has had a more positive impact on the mainstream this year.
Best Female Artist : Lori McKenna. ..McKenna had a banner year, having Humble and Kind go number 1 on the charts ( first solo written song to go number one in awhile) not to mention a great album with “The Bird and the Riffle”
Best Album : Miranda Lambert, “The Weight of These Wings”…A wonderful and rewarding listen, Miranda’s best album ever. Contrast this mature look at her with Blake Sheltons bs..enough said.
Best Duo or Group : Brothers Osborne… It was a big shock to everyone to see the Brothers win CMA vocal duo, including themselves. One of the most humble award acceptance speeches of recent years, and after a 4 year run FGL was finally robbed of the award. Kudos to the CMA for actually recognizing exellence, not bs.
Best Video : Chris Stapleton “Fire Away“…Without question not only the best of the year, probably the best in the last decade. Perfect video for a perfect song.
